My Saturday in Forest Park

WARNING: This is a LONG post with several images.

This Saturday I shot a wedding with my friend Sally at the Jewel Box. It’s so pretty, but they give you NO time to take pictures after. Not really a big deal though, seeing as we were in Forest Park. I just have to say that I HATE going to Forest Park on a Saturday. I counted at least 20 different wedding parties taking pictures there, and a few of my photographer friends were there too. Only had time to wave though.
Let me just say that Amanda and Keith, the bride and groom, were really nice, but wanted a million and a half different poses, and wanted to hit Forest Park, Kiener Plaza, AND the Arch. Sorry, we could only hit the first two in the amount of time we had.
I have to say that I was a complete moron and didn’t wear socks with my shoes. I know have lovely scabs where the blisters USED to be. Ugh. I have a wedding to shoot this weekend and you can bet your ass I am going out to get new ones. Thankfully Sally has huge feet like me and had a pair of black flip flops in her car. 🙂
Here are some of the shots that I took during the day (just a few-I’m not going to show you all 1500 pictures we took!):

OK, so I MUST explain these next two pics- we were down at Kiener Plaza taking pics, when someone in the wedding party decided that Keith should open a bottle of champagne that they had on the bus. Sally and I were all for it, because we thought it would make some great pics. Keith starts shaking away, and we get some cool pics, like this:

Then they tell him to shake it some more. OK, no big whoop. He was doing SO well that he managed to SOAK me and the videographer in champagne. His reaction was pretty funny though:

He did apologize, but I still smelt like I was boozing it up for the rest of the night.
The reception was SO ghetto! It was at this place called Royal Orleans, which is off 255 and Telegraph road. The place didn’t look too bad, but the DJ SUCKED. He didn’t understand the concept of “light dinner music.” It was cranked up so loud that we couldn’t ever talk to each other. Ugh. And then there was this old dude in a red jacket who was the Em Cee, I guess. He was so cheesy and stupid, it made me want to throw up. He and the DJ had staged his whole speech and had music to accompany him while he talked. The food was decent, but the redneck families of the bride and groom were Oh so entertaining. There was this one girl who couldn’t be more than 18 who was VERY pregnant with her second child. She was wearing this see-through pink shirt that couldn’t cover the bottom half of her stomach, which was covered in stretch marks, btw. And apparently after Sally and I left, someone tried to pick a fight with the bartender because he refused to serve the guy any more beer.
All in all, good times. 🙂
